ABOUT GIL PROJECT
Where Art Meets Purpose, and Community Becomes the Heart of Change
Throughout my journey as an artist, I have always believed that art has the power to connect people, tell stories, and inspire meaningful change.
Over the years, my work has brought me alongside nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and individuals dedicated to making a difference. During my time as Chief Development Officer at the Latin American Coalition, I witnessed firsthand both the extraordinary impact these organizations create and the challenges they face in securing the financial resources needed to sustain their programs.
I came to understand that behind every nonprofit mission are people working tirelessly to serve others, often with limited resources and an ongoing need to find new ways to fund their work.
That experience stayed with me.
As I continued developing The Heart Series, a collection exploring our roots, voice, identity, healing, and sense of belonging, I began asking myself a question:
What if a single heart could create new opportunities for an organization to continue changing lives?
That question became the inspiration behind Community Hearts.
I envisioned a project where art could become more than an expression of creativity. It could become a bridge connecting local businesses, nonprofit organizations, artists, and the communities they serve.
Through Community Hearts, each participating business or community partner inspires an original artwork that celebrates its story, identity, and connection to the community. A limited edition of 100 authorized reproductions is then offered, with 50% of eligible reproduction sales supporting a nonprofit organization selected by the participating partner.
In this way, a single artwork becomes an opportunity to celebrate a local business, engage the community, and create an additional source of support for organizations doing meaningful work.
Community Hearts was born from the heart, for the community.
It brings together two important parts of my journey: my life as an artist and my years of experience supporting nonprofit organizations. It reflects my belief that creativity and generosity can work together to open doors, build relationships, and create opportunities that might not otherwise exist.
Every September 29, on World Heart Day, Gil Project celebrates the partnerships, generosity, and positive impact created through art.
And this is only the beginning.
My vision for Gil Project extends beyond Community Hearts. I hope to continue developing creative initiatives that connect art with organizations, businesses, and communities throughout Charlotte and beyond—finding new ways for art to inspire participation, strengthen relationships, and contribute to the work of those making a difference.
Because I believe art does not have to remain within the walls of a gallery. It can become part of our everyday lives, our communities, and the change we hope to create.

Gil Project connects my work as an artist with my experience in nonprofit fundraising. Through Community Heart, I collaborate with businesses and nonprofit organizations to turn art into an additional source of community support.
COMMUNITY HEART
Your story becomes art. Each sale gives back.
I create an original anatomical heart inspired by your organization or business—its identity, story, and connection to the community. You receive the original artwork, and I create a limited edition of 100 reproductions available for purchase online.
For nonprofit partners, sales support their organization. For business partners, sales support a nonprofit they select.
How it works
No initial participation cost: Partners receive the original artwork without an upfront fee.
100 reproductions per edition: Each reproduction is priced at $120.
$60 per sale gives back: Fifty percent of each reproduction’s purchase price goes to the designated nonprofit.
Shared promotion: Partners share the collection with their customers, donors, and supporters, while I introduce it to my collectors.
Transparent progress: Sales totals are available on my website, and partners receive quarterly reports.
Annual giving: Funds raised are distributed annually on September 29, World Heart Day. The first distribution will take place on September 29, 2027.
Selling all 100 reproductions would generate $6,000 for the beneficiary nonprofit. Contributions depend on actual sales; this amount is a goal, not a guaranteed donation. An edition may take more than one year to sell, and annual distributions reflect the funds raised during each reporting period.
WHY I CREATED COMMUNITY HEART
My family’s experiences with cancer and Alzheimer’s, along with my commitment to mental health and the arts, have made these causes deeply personal to me.
Working in nonprofit fundraising, I have seen how much effort it takes to sustain community programs. As an artist, I wanted to contribute through what I create.
Community Heart brings those experiences together. As part of The Heart Series, each artwork celebrates a partner’s story while giving collectors a concrete way to support a community cause.

Inspired by Dos Caminos, The Heart of Dos Caminos celebrates the beauty that emerges when different cultures, traditions, flavors, and stories meet along the same journey.
The composition brings together visual references to Latin American and Japanese cultures—from tropical flowers, corn, chile, citrus, and Machu Picchu to cherry blossoms, ocean waves, Japanese patterns, and sushi.
Rather than separating these worlds, the anatomical heart holds them together, creating a visual dialogue between traditions and celebrating the richness that emerges when cultures connect.
