The Heart of Many Voices

$120.00

Inspired by Oswaldo Guayasamín | Ecuador
From The Heart of Our Heritage – The Territory of Identity

At the center of this work, a black anatomical heart emerges from a powerful composition of fragmented faces, watchful eyes, and human hands. The piece explores the emotional complexity of identity and the stories that remain within us—stories of struggle, resilience, memory, and humanity.

The surrounding faces represent the many people and generations that become part of who we are. Their eyes suggest witnesses to history, while the hand reaching toward the heart speaks of protection, connection, and our universal need to be seen and understood. The black heart carries both darkness and strength, while the gold lines suggest that even through fracture, something precious continues to connect us.

Part of Edwin Gil’s The Heart of Our Heritage, this work honors the influence of Latin American art while continuing Gil’s exploration of the heart as a territory where memory, identity, resilience, and collective humanity meet.
