The Heart of Buffalo is the first artwork in The Heart of the Team, a new collection within The Territory of Identity of The Heart Series by Edwin Gil.
Inspired by the colors, energy, and enduring spirit surrounding Buffalo football, the piece explores how a team can become much more than a game. It can become part of our identity—a connection to a city, a family tradition, a memory, a community, and a sense of belonging passed from one generation to another.
At the center, the anatomical heart carries the visual spirit of Buffalo: bold blue, red, and white, the buffalo, football, the city, and Niagara Falls. Golden Kintsugi-inspired lines travel across the heart as symbols of resilience, honoring the strength that can emerge through challenges, loyalty, and perseverance.
The crown represents pride. The golden branches celebrate achievement and endurance. Together, these elements transform the heart into a portrait of a community united by passion.
