The Guatemalan Heart reflects a country shaped by ancient civilizations, vibrant traditions, extraordinary landscapes, resilience, and a profound connection to ancestry and the land. Through sky blue and white, the anatomical heart becomes more than a representation of a flag it becomes a symbol of heritage, hope, strength, memory, and belonging.
Part of Hearts Without Borders, this work honors the many layers of Guatemalan identity from its deep Maya heritage and Indigenous cultures to its textiles, colors, volcanoes, music, traditions, and stories passed from one generation to the next, both within Guatemala and across the world.
It is a heart where ancient roots continue to shape the present a reminder that heritage lives not only in the place we come from, but in the traditions, memories, and stories we choose to carry forward.
